Marbles Compass with Stainless Case and Attachment Clip

The Marbles Compass with Clip is 4 inches overall in a stainless case with an attachment clip. A stainless case protects the instrument during carry while the attachment clip keeps it easy to secure to a bag, loop, or other gear. The compact compass provides a simple directional reference without depending on batteries, cellular service, or satellite reception.

A clip rather than a pin or a lanyard means the compass fastens to a pack strap, a pocket edge or a map case and comes off again without unthreading anything. That keeps it accessible, and a compass that is easy to check is one that gets checked often enough to stay on a bearing. A simple mechanical navigation aid is also easy to store for long periods because it does not require charging or battery maintenance.

A stainless case protects the capsule from the knocks that crack a plastic housing, which is the usual way a field compass dies. At 4 inches overall this is a substantial instrument rather than a button compass, so the dial is large enough to read a bearing from rather than only a direction. Users should keep the compass away from strong magnets and large metal objects when taking a reading because they can affect the needle. Explore more navigation compasses.
