Description
The Ka-Bar Mark 98-R has a 3.25-inch 5Cr15MoV blade with a black and brown G10 handle and a liner lock, opened by extended tang.
5Cr15MoV is a softer stainless chosen for corrosion resistance and easy sharpening rather than long edge retention. On a working folder that trade makes sense, since the edge comes back quickly on any stone rather than needing diamond abrasives. G10 is fiberglass cloth cured in resin, stable through heat, cold and damp, and far tougher than the molded plastic often fitted at this price.
The extended tang is a tab past the pivot pushed with the thumb, so the knife opens one-handed without a stud protruding from the blade to catch in a pocket. Explore more Work and Utility Linerlocks.
- 3.25-inch 5Cr15MoV blade, easy to resharpen
- G10 handle stays stable in heat and damp
- Extended tang opens one-handed with nothing protruding
- Liner lock keeps the frame slim
