The Jabsco Ballast King Bronze 15-GPM DC Pump fills and empties wakeboard and wake surf ballast tanks with one reversible pump, and this version includes the reversing switch. It moves about 15 GPM through 1/2-inch pipe threads and a 1-inch hose barb, with a bronze body and a neoprene impeller. Run-dry protection shuts the pump off automatically once the tank is empty, which saves the impeller.
Bronze resists corrosion and wear better than plastic pump bodies in a ballast system that runs every time you ride. The pump self-primes from dry up to 4 feet and meets ISO 8846 ignition protection. It draws 19 amps at 12V, and Jabsco recommends a 25-amp fuse.
Mount the pump below the tank where possible, keep the hose runs short, and make sure the tanks are vented. Test both fill and empty directions with the boat in the water before each season. Versions without a switch or with a Deutsch connector are also in our bilge and water pumps.
