Description

The Icom IC-GM1600 is a GMDSS-compliant handheld VHF built specifically for survival craft communications, engineered to keep working through the kind of extreme conditions a real marine emergency creates rather than the everyday wear a typical handheld sees.

Its shock-resistant housing is molded from a brightly colored, dye-injected polymer, so the radio stays easy to spot inside a survival bag, a life raft, or wherever it's stowed when seconds matter. Every control is sized for one-handed operation, including one-touch access to Channel 16 and the call channel, and operating instructions are printed right on the back panel for anyone unfamiliar with the unit under pressure.

The included BP-234 battery is a non-rechargeable, 3300mAh lithium pack rated to keep working down to -4°F, backed by a charger for day-to-day standby use. Built to IMO resolutions A.809(19) and A.694(17) and IEC 61097-12, the GM1600 meets temperature, thermal shock, vibration, and 1-meter drop testing on top of its IPX7 waterproof rating, and a bright LED indicator on the top panel helps rescuers spot an active radio in low light.

  • GMDSS-compliant survival craft radio
  • 2W output power, IPX7 waterproof rated
  • One-touch Channel 16 and call channel access
  • Bright, dye-injected polymer housing for visibility
