The Icom earphone and throat mic headset gives an M72, M88, or GM1600 handheld user a hands-free, low-profile alternative to a speaker microphone.

The throat mic picks up speech through vocal vibration rather than a standard air microphone, which keeps wind and background boat noise out of the transmission in a way an open mic can't match.
