The Higonokami Falten has a 4-inch satin SG2 steel blade in a ziricote wood handle with an extended tang, closing on a friction folder. Made in Japan.
SG2 is a Japanese powder steel, and finding it on a Higonokami is unusual. The pattern is traditionally built with plain carbon steel, and SG2 holds an edge several times longer while resisting corrosion the traditional steel does not. Ziricote is a dense Central American hardwood with dramatic dark figuring, and it is a considerable step up from the plain wood or bare brass a Higonokami usually wears.
