Description

The Fred Perrin Le Trifolder has a 3-inch 440C stainless blade in a trifold 440C stainless handle that folds back into itself to secure the blade, closing to 3.75 inches, with a black nylon belt sheath.

The trifold handle is the whole design. A single piece of steel folds twice around the blade rather than using scales, liners and a lock, so the knife has no pivot mechanism to fail and almost nothing to it. Fred Perrin is a French maker known for stripped-down designs that do away with parts other knives treat as necessary, and this is the clearest example of that thinking.

440C was the benchmark stainless in production knives for decades, with high chromium for corrosion resistance and enough carbon to take a fine edge. At 3.75 inches closed the whole knife is a flat steel package, and the nylon sheath gives it somewhere to live. Explore more Folding Knives.

  • Trifold handle folds around the blade, no lock needed
  • One piece of steel, nothing to fail
  • Fred Perrin design stripped to essentials
  • 3-inch 440C blade, 3.75 inches closed
