The Flexcut KN27 Mini Detail Knife has a 0.75-inch high carbon steel straight blade at 5.25 inches overall, ground from ultra-thin stock, with a faceted wood handle. Made in the USA.
The thin stock is the whole point. A thick blade wedges the wood apart as it cuts, disturbing the surface either side of the line, while an ultra-thin one passes through without pushing the grain around it. That is what a detail knife is for: the last cuts on a carving, where a heavier tool would spoil work already done.
