Description

The Fireboy-Xintex CMD6-M Series CO Alarm in white is a 12/24V DC unit with a permanent lithium-metal backup battery and interconnect for up to 10 units.

White is the common finish on marine CO alarms because most accommodation headlinings are white, and a matching alarm disappears rather than drawing the eye. The black version covers darker interiors, and both are otherwise identical.

Interconnect is the feature worth understanding. Up to 10 units link so that any one detecting CO sounds all of them. Carbon monoxide is odorless and does its damage while people sleep, so an alarm in the engine space that nobody hears in the forward cabin protects the wrong person.

The sensor works on a Time Weighted Average process, calculating carboxyhemoglobin from CO concentration, temperature and elapsed time rather than a single reading. Low CO over hours is as dangerous as high CO briefly, and that method catches both. Sensor life runs about 7 years, running on boat power with permanent backup. Explore more gas and carbon monoxide detectors.

  • White, matching most accommodation headlinings
  • Interconnect sounds all units from any one detection
  • An alarm nobody hears protects the wrong person
  • Low CO over hours is as dangerous as a brief spike
