Description
The Fireboy-Xintex 5-Circuit Engine Shutdown System cuts power to engines, generators and blowers on fire detection, through five 20-amp relays on 9 to 38V.
A running engine defeats a fire suppression system, and that is the specific problem this solves. The engine keeps pulling air through the compartment, diluting the extinguishing agent below the concentration needed to put the fire out. Shutting down before or during discharge is what lets the agent work.
Five circuits through 20-amp relays cover multiple engines, generators and blower systems in one installation. Blowers matter as much as engines here, since a running blower ventilates the very compartment the agent is trying to fill.
A Shutdown Control Module works with a round helm readout that includes an override switch. The override exists because there are situations where an engine is needed despite an alarm, and taking that decision away from the helm would be worse than the alternative. Explore more fire suppression and engine safety.
- A running engine dilutes the extinguishing agent
- Shutdown before or during discharge lets it work
- Five 20-amp circuits for engines, generators and blowers
- Helm override where an engine is still needed
