The Fireboy-Xintex Propane Fume Detector is a 2-3/16 inch round black bezel display with a plastic sensor and a 68dBA alarm, running on 9-30V, without a solenoid valve.

Propane is heavier than air, so a leak settles into the bilge rather than dispersing. That is what makes it dangerous on a boat in a way it is not in a house, and it is why the sensor mounts low. A detector gives warning before the concentration reaches the point where a spark matters.
