Because this gauge is calibrated for a magnetic pickup signal, it's the right choice for diesel engines already running that sender type rather than an alternator or ignition-based tach setup. It still wires straightforward, +12VDC, ground, and the sender lead, and a rear switch fine-tunes the pulses-per-revolution reading.
