Description

The Digital Yacht NS8 is a rugged eight-port Gigabit Ethernet switch for expanding the wired data network aboard a boat. It gives routers, computers, cameras, entertainment equipment, VoIP devices, and other compatible Ethernet hardware additional hardwired connections where speed and reliability matter more than relying entirely on wireless networking.

Each port supports common Ethernet speeds up to Gigabit operation, making the switch suitable for data-intensive onboard services such as streaming video and network cameras. It can connect to a LAN port on a compatible onboard router, while the router continues handling network addressing for devices attached through the switch.

The NS8 is designed for marine DC electrical systems and includes a dual-input power arrangement for installations that require redundancy. A DIN-rail mounting bracket and rail are supplied, and port status indicators provide immediate feedback about network links and activity during installation or troubleshooting. Browse more instruments & compasses.

Key Features

  • Add more hardwired connections to the boat: Eight Ethernet ports expand the capacity of an existing onboard router or wired network.
  • Handle bandwidth-heavy onboard services: Gigabit capability supports demanding uses such as streaming, cameras, and other high-data applications.
  • Build in power-source redundancy: Dual DC inputs allow installers to provide a backup supply path where the vessel design supports it.
  • Mount the switch cleanly in an equipment space: The supplied DIN-rail hardware supports an organized permanent installation.
  • Check network links without extra test equipment: Port LEDs provide visible connection and activity status during setup and troubleshooting.
