The Davis Wireless Leaf and Soil Moisture Station is a solar powered transmitter in a weather-resistant shelter, with sensors sold separately. For the US version of Vantage Pro2.

Sensors being sold separately is the design rather than an omission. A grower measuring soil moisture at three depths needs a different configuration from one watching leaf wetness for disease pressure. The station is the transmitter and shelter, and the sensor set is built to the site.

Leaf wetness and soil moisture are the two measurements that drive irrigation and spray timing, and neither is available from a standard weather station. Solar power with a battery means it sits in a field indefinitely without a cable run, which is the only practical way to instrument ground away from a building.
