Description
The CJRB Bowie Pyrite has a 3.13-inch stonewashed AR-RPM9 stainless clip point blade in a black wood handle with brass bolsters, a lanyard hole and a pocket clip, closing to 4.25 inches on a slip joint.
A modern brand building a slip joint is a deliberate choice. Without a lock the knife falls outside carry restrictions that apply to locking folders in a good many places, and the pattern has come back into production for that reason. Brass bolsters and a wood handle put traditional materials on a knife running a modern powder steel, which is the whole idea of the Pyrite line.
AR-RPM9 is Artisan's powder steel, pressed from steel powder rather than cast, giving a finer grain that sharpens predictably. A pocket clip on a slip joint is another modern addition, keeping the knife high rather than loose at the bottom of a pocket. Explore more Traditional Knives.
- Slip joint falls outside many locking-folder restrictions
