Blue Sea 8689 m-Series Dual Circuit Plus 2 Panel

The Blue Sea Systems 8689 m-Series Dual Circuit Plus 2, part number 6011, is a twin-engine battery management panel with a 100A main and three 15A push button thermal breakers.

Three protected 24-hour circuits rather than the four on the larger e-Series version is the practical difference between them. For most twin-engine boats three covers what needs to stay live around the clock: bilge pump, bilge alarm and one spare for a float switch or alarm panel.

Function is otherwise the same. The engine circuit stays isolated from the house circuit so the banks discharge independently, with an emergency cross connect available when one has been run down. Keeping the engine side separate also protects electronics from the sags and spikes that come with cranking.

Battery switch operation is simpler than a conventional 1-2-Both arrangement, which removes the decisions that get made wrongly at the end of a long day.
