Description
The Blue Sea Systems 1732 Mini OLED Ammeter reads DC current in both directions from -100A to +100A at 0.1A resolution, mounting in a 1-1/8-inch hole.
The 1-1/8-inch round hole is the practical advantage. That is the standard gauge cutout already present on most helms, so the meter goes in where a gauge came out. A full-size battery monitor needs a rectangular cutout, which on a finished console means a considerably bigger job.
Reading in both directions shows discharge from onboard loads and charging current returning to the battery, which is what makes it useful rather than just a load meter. Resolution of 0.1A is fine enough to see small parasitic draws that flatten a bank over weeks at the dock.
It can be wired on either the positive or negative side of the circuit and includes reverse-polarity protection against an installation mistake. The display is daylight readable and waterproof, it runs on 12V or 24V systems at very low operating current, and it tolerates higher short-duration current during cranking. Explore more marine electrical meters.
- Fits the standard 1-1/8-inch gauge cutout
- A full monitor needs a rectangular hole cut
- Reads both discharge and charging current
- 0.1A resolution shows small parasitic draws
