The Balmar 100A Saddle Mount Alternator Kit includes a 60-100-J10 alternator, MC-618 external regulator, temperature sensors and hardware.

The MC-618 regulator is the component that makes the alternator usable, and it is programmable for battery chemistry. Flooded, AGM, gel and lithium all want different charging profiles, and a regulator that can be set for the actual bank is what turns a high-output alternator into a proper charging system.

It also manages the alternator's output against temperature rather than running flat out regardless. That is what stops a 100A alternator destroying itself on a hot engine, and the temperature sensors are part of the kit for that reason rather than as an option.

The J10 serpentine pulley suits a ten-groove belt, against the K6 version for six-groove drives. The 3.15-inch saddle mount suits Yanmar, Westerbeke, Lehman and Perkins-Sabre engines, with isolated grounding. Explore more marine alternators.
