The Artisan Proponent has a 4-inch satin and sand polished S35VN stainless modified tanto blade, a gray titanium handle, an extended tang, a thumb stud, a lanyard hole and a pocket clip, closing to 5 inches.
A titanium handle on a frame lock is the proper way to build one, since titanium flexes without fatiguing where steel eventually takes a set, and it weighs about half what stainless does at the same thickness. S35VN is a powder steel with niobium added to the older S30V recipe, which makes it tougher and easier to sharpen while holding an edge just as long.
A modified tanto softens the angled break between the two edges, keeping the reinforced tip while slicing better than a hard-angled tanto does. Sand polishing the flats alongside a satin grind gives two textures on one blade, showing the bevel line clearly. Explore more Framelock Knives.
