Description

The Ancor Red/Black 12/2 AWG Flat Duplex Cable is a 500-foot spool of tinned copper with Type 3 ultra-flexible stranding.

Twelve gauge duplex is the workhorse size for DC circuits on a boat, covering pumps, lighting runs, electronics feeds and accessories. A 500-foot spool is what a full rewire consumes, since almost every circuit on the boat lands at this gauge or close to it.

Red and black insulation makes polarity identification immediate, following the traditional DC convention rather than the ABYC red and yellow. Matching whatever the boat already uses is more important than which convention is technically preferred.

The flat profile routes neatly along bulkheads and behind panels, and duplex keeps a circuit as one cable rather than two wires to clip together. Ultra-flexible Type 3 tinned copper stranding resists corrosion and tolerates vibration, with insulation rated 600V, 105°C dry and 75°C wet. Explore more duplex and triplex cable.

  • 12 gauge is the workhorse size for boat DC circuits
  • A 500-foot spool is what a full rewire uses
  • Red and black, the traditional convention
  • Match the boat rather than the preferred standard
