Description
The Ancor Red 10 AWG Tinned Copper Wire is a 250-foot spool of single conductor with Type 3 ultra-flexible stranding.
Ten gauge red covers positive feeds for pumps, lighting circuits, electronics, charging runs and accessories. It is the size to step up to when a 12 gauge run turns out too long for the load, which happens most often on circuits running forward from a panel amidships.
Voltage drop rather than current is usually what forces that step, and the calculation depends on total circuit length rather than one-way distance. Measuring only the run out and forgetting the return is the common error, and it halves the apparent length.
Tinned copper strands protect against corrosion and electrolysis where moisture reaches the conductor. Ultra-flexible Type 3 construction improves routing through panels and machinery spaces while withstanding vibration and repeated flexing, with insulation rated 600V, 105°C dry and 75°C wet. Explore more marine wire.
- 10 gauge when 12 is too long for the load
- Voltage drop forces the step, not current
- Calculate on total circuit length, out and back
- Measuring one way halves the apparent distance
