Description

The Ancor 22-18 AWG Female Heat Shrink Disconnects are a 100-pack with an adhesive-lined sleeve and tinned surfaces.

Twenty-two to 18 AWG is the smallest disconnect size, for instrument feeds, sensors, control signals and low-draw electronics. Using a larger 16-14 terminal on this wire is the common mistake, and it leaves the conductor loose in the barrel however hard it is crimped.

A disconnect at this size lets a sensor or gauge be removed without cutting the wire, which matters because instruments are replaced more often than the wiring behind them. Cutting and splicing each time shortens the run until eventually there is not enough left to reach.

The adhesive-lined heat shrink sleeve seals around the wire insulation and adds strain relief at the crimp. Strain relief matters more on small wire than large, since 22 gauge conductor breaks at a rigid crimp far more readily than 14 does. Explore more wire connectors and terminals.

  • 22-18 AWG for instruments, sensors and controls
  • A 16-14 terminal leaves this wire loose in the barrel
  • Instruments get replaced more often than their wiring
  • Strain relief matters more on small conductors
