The Al Mar Hawk has a 2.5-inch satin AUS-8 stainless talon blade in a honey jigged bone handle with stainless bolsters, thumb stud and lanyard hole, closing to 3.25 inches on a lockback, and a brown leather pouch.

The talon blade curves downward toward the point like a bird's claw, cutting on the pull where the edge traps cord and material rather than letting it slide off. Al Mar founded his company in 1979 after working at Gerber, and the Hawk is one of the shapes the brand is known for.

Honey jigged bone is a warmer amber tone than standard brown, and jigging gives grip where smooth bone turns slick. AUS-8 is a Japanese stainless that takes a keen edge easily and resists rust well, and a lockback holds the blade with a spine-mounted bar. Explore more Lockback Knives.
