YakGear 2.2 lb Galvanized Bruce Plow Anchor

The YakGear 2.2 lb Bruce Anchor is a galvanized steel plow anchor for kayaks and small boats fishing coastal and near-shore water. It weighs 1 kg. YakGear calls it the preferred choice of coastal and near-shore anglers. Bruce-style anchors are known for setting quickly and resetting when the tide turns.

The plow shape digs easily into sand, silt and mud. The anchor is self-orienting, so it rolls into position to set no matter how it lands on the bottom. Galvanized steel protects it from rust in saltwater. Its compact size suits the limited storage on a kayak.

Line length matters as much as the anchor. YakGear recommends at least three times the water depth in calm conditions and four to five times in chop or wind. Add a short length of chain to help it set. Browse more boat anchors.
