Wichard 10mm x 110mm Stainless U-Bolt Pad Eye

Wichard's 6525W U-Bolt Pad Eye has 10 mm (25/64 in) legs and the same 110 mm (4.33 in) length as the 12 mm model, in a lighter fitting. Wichard rates it for a 7,930 lb marine working load and a 15,430 lb breaking load. That suits snatch blocks, spinnaker sheet leads and tether points on small and mid-size boats where the 12 mm size would be more than needed.

The U-bolt is forged in 316L stainless steel and weighs just under 0.5 lb, about 30 percent less than the 12 mm version. A counterplate and bolts are included to back up the deck, and Wichard lists a 36 Nm maximum tightening torque. Do not tighten it beyond that, since over-torquing can stretch the threads.

Because the leg length matches the 12 mm model, the same deck thickness rules apply. Measure the deck, backing block and counterplate together before drilling. Use the published working load, not the breaking load, when you plan what attaches to it, and find shackles and blocks to go with it in our sailing hardware.
