Description

The Wichard high-resistance snap shackle gives a forged 17.4 PH stainless-steel connection for sail-control applications requiring high working and breaking loads. Its swivel arrangement allows free rotation so the connected sheet, halyard, or sail hardware can align more naturally instead of forcing twist into the attachment.

A lanyard-operated quick-release mechanism opens the shackle by pulling the release line, supporting fast spinnaker handling. The large-bail version can accept several lines, while the swivel-eye version is suited to a single sheet or halyard.

Confirm overall length, eye or bail dimensions, working load, breaking load, connected line or fitting size, and swivel clearance before use. Make sure the plunger or quick-release mechanism closes completely before loading. Inspect the hook, swivel, release pin, bail or eye, and any lanyard regularly for wear, deformation, corrosion, or accidental-release hazards.

  • The swivel helps connected sail hardware align without unnecessary twist.
  • 17.4 PH construction supports demanding sail-control loads.
  • The plunger or lanyard-operated release simplifies sail handling.
  • Captive components reduce the chance of losing the operating pin during handling.
