The UZI Leg Cuffs are polished nickel-plated steel with ditched jaws, a double safety lock and 16 inch welded chains.

Sixteen inches of chain is what distinguishes leg irons from handcuffs. It allows a short walking stride while removing any chance of running or kicking, which is the whole purpose of restraining at the ankle rather than the wrist. The chains are welded rather than linked open, so there is no weak joint to work apart under load.

Ditched jaws are grooved so the ratchet teeth sit below the surface, which is what makes a cuff pick proof rather than merely locked.
