Uflex TM87 16-Foot Rack and Pinion Steering System

For steering layouts that measure to a 16-foot cable run, the Uflex TM87OX16 packages the key rack-and-pinion components together. The system includes a G87 front-mount helm, TM87XLL mechanical steering cable, and X34 bezel so the primary steering hardware is matched before installation begins.

The cable is designed for 3.7 in of stroke, while the helm provides about 3.3 turns from lock to lock through a standard 3/4 in tapered steering shaft. Stainless-steel output ends and corrosion-resistant materials help the steering assembly stand up to normal marine exposure.

Routing is especially important on mechanical systems because tight bends add resistance. Follow the full helm-to-engine path when confirming fit, provide service allowance where needed, maintain at least the specified 7.9 in bend radius, and verify unrestricted steering movement before putting the boat back in service.
