A tactical fixed blade is built for situations where reliability, grip, and blade strength are non-negotiable. Designed with secure handle geometry, aggressive texturing, and blade profiles optimized for control under pressure, tactical fixed blades suit law enforcement, military, emergency preparedness, and serious outdoor users who need a fixed blade that performs without hesitation. CritPro carries tactical fixed blade knives from trusted brands including Gerber, Cold Steel, and Schrade.
Full tang construction is mandatory for a serious tactical blade. Any fixed blade intended for hard use should have steel running the full length of the handle with no weak points at the blade-to-handle junction. Partial tang designs are not appropriate for tactical applications where the knife may need to function as a prying, batoning, or impact tool in addition to a cutting instrument.
Handle material and geometry are the next priority. Tactical fixed blades need a handle that maintains secure grip when wet, cold, or when wearing gloves. Textured G10, rubber overmold, and Micarta are the most common materials for serious tactical handles. Finger grooves and guard geometry that prevent the hand from riding onto the blade under hard use are worth prioritizing over a more aggressive or decorative handle profile.
Blade profile and grind affect how the knife performs in real use. A drop point or clip point blade suits the widest range of tactical tasks. A tanto profile offers a stronger tip for piercing tasks at the cost of a less useful belly for slicing. Blade thickness between 4mm and 6mm provides enough strength for hard use without making the knife too heavy or blade-heavy to carry comfortably.
A tactical fixed blade is only as useful as its sheath system. Look for a sheath with multiple carry position options including vertical, horizontal, and angled configurations to suit different carry preferences and gear setups. Kydex sheaths offer the most consistent retention and fastest draw of any sheath material and are the standard for serious tactical carry. Pair your tactical blade with our carry and storage accessories for additional carry options and blade protection.
