Spyderco Tenacious D2 Black Oxide Titanium Knife

The Spyderco Tenacious D2 Black Oxide Titanium (C122TIBLBKD2P) has a 3.35-inch D2 tool steel drop point blade with a black oxide finish and a blue titanium handle. The Tenacious is a popular, affordable Spyderco design, and this version upgrades it with titanium and a frame lock. The blue titanium has a mottled, disarray anodized finish, so no two handles look exactly the same.

The lock is a Reeve Integral Lock, a frame lock design licensed from Chris Reeve Knives, in which part of the titanium handle itself springs behind the blade to lock it open. To close it, you push the lock bar to the side with your thumb. Titanium is light and strong, and it springs back well, which makes it a good material for a frame lock.

D2 is a semi-stainless tool steel with about 12 percent chromium, known for good edge holding and wear resistance. It is more prone to staining than a fully stainless steel, so wipe it dry after use. The black oxide finish adds a little extra protection and cuts glare. The Round Hole opens the blade with one thumb, and the clip keeps it secure.
