Spyderco Police Plain Edge Stainless Folding Knife

The Spyderco Police Plain Edge (C07P) is one of Spyderco's longest-running designs, with a 4.125-inch VG-10 clip point blade. The design traces back to the 1980s, when it became one of the first big Spyderco folders built around the trademark Round Hole. With a big blade and a slim stainless handle, it offers a lot of reach for the pocket space it takes. Overall length is about 9.4 inches open.

The plain edge is easy to control for slicing and easy to sharpen on a stone. VG-10 is a Japanese stainless steel with cobalt, which gives it a fine grain and good edge holding. The clip point brings the tip down in line with the handle, which helps with piercing and detail cuts. Despite its size, the stainless handle keeps it slim enough for a front pocket. A pocket clip keeps the large knife upright and secure.

The stainless steel handle is thin and strong, with a pocket clip and lanyard hole. A back lock holds the blade open, and the oversized Round Hole opens it with one thumb. Spyderco builds the Police in Seki, Japan. Steel handles can be slippery when wet, so a lanyard can help with grip. Its long reach makes it useful for opening feed sacks, breaking down large boxes, and cutting heavy cordage. Large blades are subject to local laws, so check yours before carrying a 4-inch folder.
