The Spyderco Edgerati Gray Aluminum (C266ALP) has a 3.57-inch satin CPM S30V clip point blade in a gray aluminum handle. The satin blade and bare gray handle give it a clean, technical look. It is made in the USA. It is made by Spyderco in Golden, Colorado. Aluminum is uncommon among Spyderco handles, which gives this knife a distinctive look and feel.
Machined aluminum keeps the handle stiff and light. CPM S30V holds an edge well and resists corrosion. The clip point gives a fine tip for detail cuts. Satin finishes are easier to touch up than coated blades if they get scratched. S30V was developed by Crucible with knifemaker Chris Reeve for premium pocket knives. The handle edges are machined for comfort in hand. Aluminum also feels cool and solid in the hand.
A Compression Lock lets you close the blade without your fingers in its path. The Round Hole opens it with one thumb. Wipe fingerprints off the aluminum with a soft cloth. It is a good alternative to G-10 for buyers who like metal handles. The lock tab sits in the spine, so the lock can be released from either side. Add a drop of oil to the pivot now and then.
