Spyderco Manix 2 Black Blade G10 Folding Knife

The Spyderco Manix 2 Black Blade G-10 (C101GPBBK2) pairs a black-coated 3.37-inch CPM S30V blade with a black G-10 handle. It is made in Spyderco's Golden, Colorado factory and opens to about 8 inches. The all-black look hides scratches and wear and keeps glare down outdoors.

The Manix 2 is best known for its Ball Bearing Lock, in which a spring-loaded ball bearing in a small cage wedges between a stop pin and the blade tang. To close the knife, you pull the bearing back with your thumb, and the lock works the same from either side, so it suits left- and right-handed users. The lockup is strong and smooth, and the action stays crisp over years of use.

CPM S30V is a powder steel developed with custom knifemaker Chris Reeve for a balance of edge holding, toughness, and stain resistance. Skeletonized steel liners stiffen the handle, and the four-position clip suits any carry position. A deep finger choil lets you choke up for detail work. Wipe the coated blade with a little oil after damp days to protect the edge, where the coating has been ground away. The black coating also gives the blade a low-glare look.
