Springfield Stainless 7 x 7 Plug-In Seat Base

The Springfield Stainless 7 x 7 Plug-In Seat Base is a deck-mount receiver for 2-3/8-inch plug-in seat posts. Bolt it to the deck, plug the post in, and pull it out when you want the deck clear. It is stainless steel, which holds up to sun, rain, and salt water, and its 7 x 7-inch footprint spreads the seat load across the deck.

Plug-in bases let you set up several seat positions on one boat and move a single post and seat between them, such as bow, middle, and stern on a jon boat. A base at each position also lets you take the seat off for trailering or storage, keeping the upholstery out of the weather. It works with Springfield plug-in posts. It is a simple way to add seating positions without a full pedestal at each one.

Before drilling, place the base where the seat will have room to swivel. Bolt it through the deck with a backing plate where possible, since the base carries all of the seat's leverage, and seal the bolt holes with marine sealant.
