Ritchie HB-845 Helmsman Black Bracket Mount Compass

The Ritchie HB-845 Helmsman Black Bracket Mount Compass is a Helmsman compass built for steel boats, which throw off the magnetic readings of an ordinary compass. Its reinforced bracket holds quadrantal correctors, and standard compensators plus booster magnets in the base let you correct for the large deviation a steel hull creates. The 3-3/4 in (95 mm) open face dial is easy to read from the helm.

A hardened steel pivot riding on a sapphire jewel keeps the dial moving smoothly for years. Lubber lines at 45 degrees help you read and hold courses at an angle to the bow. A movable sun shield cuts glare, and Ritchie's green NiteVu lighting keeps the dial readable at night without hurting your night vision.

It comes with 12 V lighting as standard, and 24 V and 32 V lighting options are available. The compass is 100% repairable, so it can be serviced rather than replaced. It ships at about 6 lb, a sign of the heavy bracket and hardware. Compare it with the rest of our marine compasses.
