The Ritchie B-51 Explorer is a bracket-mounted compass built around a 2 3/4-inch direct-reading dial, easy to read at a glance without the CombiDial-style secondary scale some Ritchie compasses use.

The bracket mount is adjustable and removable with thumbscrews, so the compass can be repositioned or pulled entirely for storage between trips. Internal green night illumination lights the dial, and built-in compensators handle local deviation adjustment without extra hardware.
