The Powerwinch Class 36 automatic free-fall windlass is designed for helm-controlled anchoring with fast deployment and powered retrieval. Its free-fall system can lower the anchor at up to 300 ft/min without using battery power during the drop, allowing the anchor to reach the bottom substantially faster than a powered-down system while conserving electrical capacity.

A stainless steel rope-and-chain guidance system manages the rode, and the replaceable Rode-Glide helps channel rope and chain below deck. The motor is mounted to a one-piece motor plate for smooth power transfer, while heat-treated oil-impregnated gears and stainless steel drive shafts are designed for repeated marine use. Watertight seals and stainless steel fasteners add corrosion protection and make service hardware easier to remove.
