Description

The MTech Karambit has a 2.5-inch black finish stainless hawkbill blade, a black aluminum handle with a finger ring, an extended tang, a thumb stud and a pocket clip, closing to 4.5 inches.

The karambit comes from Southeast Asia, where it started as an agricultural tool for raking roots and harvesting, and the finger ring is what defines it. A finger passes through the loop so the knife cannot be pulled or twisted out of the hand. The hawkbill curve works on the pull. Drawing it through material traps that material in the curve where the edge bites, rather than letting it slide off the way a straight blade does.

Aluminum keeps the handle rigid without weight, which matters on a shape held by one finger through a ring. At 4.5 inches closed it folds down considerably smaller than the fixed karambits the pattern is usually built as. Explore more Modern EDC Linerlocks.
