The Marbles Rams Horn Small Barlow has mirror polished stainless clip and pen blades in a ram's horn handle with nickel silver bolsters and an inlay shield, closing to 3.375 inches.
The barlow is recognized by its long bolster, which runs well past the pivot. It began as reinforcement on a cheap working knife in 18th century England and stayed as the pattern's signature. On this one the bolster takes up a large share of a 3.375-inch frame, which is what makes a small barlow look the way it does.
Ram's horn is genuine horn rather than a molded imitation, so each handle has its own banding, ridging and translucency, and it warms in the hand in a way synthetics do not. The clip blade takes general cutting while the pen blade, slim and symmetrical, handles fine work a larger edge cannot reach. Explore more Barlow Knives.
