Marbles 1114 Brass Pin Waterproof Compass

The Marbles Pin-On Compass is a 1 inch brass-bodied compass with a revolving luminous dial, fastening to clothing.

Pinning a compass to a jacket puts it where it gets looked at. A compass in a pack is a compass that gets consulted once an hour instead of every few minutes, which is how people drift off a bearing. The luminous dial means it still reads at dusk and in cover, without needing a light that ruins night vision.

Brass is the traditional compass body material because it is non-magnetic, so the case itself cannot deflect the needle the way a steel one would. At 1 inch this is a backup or a quick-check instrument rather than a primary navigation tool, and it works best alongside a baseplate compass and a map. Explore more navigation compasses.
