Description

The Lansky HR120 is a 5-1/8 inch coarse grit aluminum oxide curved blade hone for the Lansky Sharpening System.

One hundred and twenty grit is the coarse stage, which is where a damaged or badly dull curved blade has to start. Beginning on a medium hone with a rolled or nicked edge takes far longer than it should. Aluminum oxide cuts fast at this grit, removing metal quickly to reshape an edge rather than refine one.

The round section is what lets it work the inside of a karambit, kukri or hawkbill curve, where a flat stone only contacts at the ends. It fits the Lansky guided system, which clamps the blade and holds the rod at a set angle so the curve is worked consistently along its length. Explore more sharpeners.

  • 120 grit, the coarse stage for a damaged edge
  • Starting on medium with a nicked edge wastes time
  • Aluminum oxide cuts fast to reshape rather than refine
  • Round section for karambit, kukri and hawkbill curves
