Kent Type I Child Vest Style Life Jacket

The Kent Child Vest is a Type I life jacket in SOLAS grade bright orange with 16 lb of buoyancy, for extended survival in rough water.

Type I is the offshore rating, built for water where rescue may be slow rather than for a lake with help nearby. It has more buoyancy and more turning force than the Type II and III vests most boats stock. The turning ability is the point: it will bring an unconscious person to a vertical or slightly backward position so the airway stays clear.

A child cannot be relied on to keep their own head up, which is what makes turning ability more important on a child's jacket than an adult's.
