The reverse tanto flips the usual geometry, putting the angled break on the spine rather than the edge. That leaves a strong acute tip above a continuous curved edge, so the blade slices like a drop point while keeping a tanto's tip strength. 1095 Cro-Van is Ka-Bar's carbon steel with chromium and vanadium added, tougher than plain 1095 and holding an edge better.
