The Ka-Bar Cool Name has a 4.625-inch black 1095 Cro-Van carbon steel sheepsfoot blade at 9.375 inches overall, a smoke polycarbonate handle and a sheath.
A sheepsfoot has a straight edge with the spine curving down to meet it and almost no point, so it cuts safely against a surface without stabbing through what lies underneath. On a fixed blade at this size that suits cutting down onto a board, opening packaging over contents, and rescue work where a point is a liability.
Smoke polycarbonate is translucent rather than opaque, so the tang shows through the scales as a dark shape inside the handle. 1095 Cro-Van is Ka-Bar's carbon steel with chromium and vanadium added, tougher than plain 1095 and holding an edge better. Explore more Utility and Work Knives.
