The Icom shielded control cable runs 10 meters between an AT-140 antenna tuner and an IC-M802 SSB receiver, carrying the tuning commands that let the two units work together.

Shielding matters here because the control line runs alongside power and RF cabling in a typical SSB install, and unshielded control wire is prone to picking up noise that shows up as static or erratic tuning behavior.
