Description

The Icom HM135N is the factory replacement microphone for the M802 digital marine SSB radio, with the original's full control set.

A factory microphone rather than a generic substitute matters on an SSB, because the controls on the mic body are part of how the radio is operated rather than an extra. Up and down switches change channel or frequency from the hand, and a user programmable switch activates a function assigned in the radio's initial set mode.

An SSB often lives below at a nav station while the operator is at the helm, so having channel control in the microphone is most of the point of the design. Losing that control to a stripped-down replacement means going below to change frequency, which defeats the arrangement.

It is water resistant, which a microphone at a nav station or in a pilothouse needs given spray and damp hands. The PTT switch works conventionally, held to transmit and released to receive. Explore more communication accessories.

  • Factory replacement with the original control set
  • Channel and frequency control from the hand
  • An SSB below deck is operated from the mic
  • Water resistant, with a conventional PTT switch
