Hornady Security XL Keyed Handgun Lock Box

Hornady Security XL Keyed Handgun Lock Box gives a full-size handgun a protected steel enclosure that can be used at home, in a vehicle, or during travel. Hornady identifies the XL model as fitting 1911-size pistols and 4-inch revolvers. The 16-gauge steel body closes with a smooth-operating barrel lock and is supplied with two keys.

A four-foot security cable rated for 1,500 pounds lets the box be attached to a stationary object instead of relying on the box’s weight alone. The cable receiver is designed to use minimal interior space, leaving more room for the firearm or valuables. Foam lining cushions the contents and keeps them separated from the steel shell.

The XL version makes sense for owners whose handgun needs more room than the Large model provides but who still want a flat portable keyed box. Before using it for travel, compare the firearm’s overall dimensions, including any mounted accessory, with the interior space and follow applicable carrier and storage rules.
