Grohmann has worked in Pictou, Nova Scotia since 1957, and the elliptical blade is their signature. Instead of a straight spine and a point, the whole blade curves in a continuous ellipse, which puts belly along the entire edge for skinning and keeps a fine tip for detail work. The offset handle sits below the blade's centerline, which drops the wrist into a more natural angle when working over a bird or fish on a flat surface.
