GROCO 1-Inch Poly Basket Fresh Water Strainer

For larger 1 in lines, the GROCO WSB-1000-P has 1 in NPT ports and a bigger body at 6.25 in tall and 4 in wide. The extra size gives the basket more screen area, so it can go longer between cleanings on higher-flow pumps. GROCO recommends the -P version for salt-water systems and continuous-duty air conditioning or generator cooling.

The strainer has a white nylon head with a clear bowl, so a quick look shows whether the basket is loading up. The bowl unscrews without tools and the plastic basket lifts straight out for rinsing. A mounting bracket comes in the box, so the housing can be bolted down instead of hanging from the hose.

Leave enough clearance under the bowl so it can come off during service, and check the bowl seal each time you clean the basket. Matching the strainer to the pump's inlet size avoids adding a restriction at the suction side. You can find other intake and drain fittings in our thru-hulls and drains department.
