First Watch AV-1000 XS/S Black Kayak Duty PFD

The First Watch AV-1000 is a kayak-style USCG Type III duty PFD in black, sized XS/S, with MOLLE webbing and a body cam patch.

XS/S is the smallest size, and on a duty PFD getting the size right is a safety matter rather than a comfort one. A vest too large rides up over the head in the water and gives almost no useful flotation, which is the failure mode with an oversized PFD on a smaller wearer.

The kayak-style cut keeps flotation clear of the shoulders and upper chest, so the arms move freely for climbing, paddling or drawing a weapon. That freedom is what keeps a vest on through a shift, and a vest that gets removed protects nobody.

Roll-up Velcro tabs stop the straps snagging on lines, rails and equipment, and a D-ring at the base zipper takes a throttle lanyard.
